Abuja - The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has
announced that government will be cutting the electricity tariff by half,
The reduction will be taking effect end of March, which
comes after several complaints about the increasing price of electricity in
Chairman of NERC, Sam Amadi, announced the review in Abuja,
expressing that something needed to be done after industrial and commercial
consumers had petitioned about the tariffs of electricity.

Public hearings were gathered from the petitions of which
the commission gained information of how to cut the tariffs.
The commission will also remove collection loses from
customer tariff under the multi-year tariff order.
Amadi further stated that businesses will not not feel
threatened by electricity and job losses can be prevented.
