Abuja – There is a looming food shortage in Nigeria due to insecurity in 17 states of the country, reports Premium Times.
This alarm was raised on Thursday by the National Economic Council, NEC, which is chaired by the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, and made up of the 36 state governors and some ministers.
The governors present said that unless the attacks against farmer in these 17 states , the farmers could not plan for the next planting season, and thus cause food shortage.
Hundreds of have died in such clashes and thousands displaced.
