Governor condemns terror attack in Yobe

30 December 2014, 14:50Okoro Chinedu

Lagos - Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, has denounced the recent terror attacks in Gaidam.

Suspected Boko Haram members attacked a number of facilities in the area, including a market, police station and the local government rest house.

In a sombre interaction with victims at the market, Gaidam condemned the attack as “unfortunate, inhuman, unwarranted and ungodly.”

“It is unfortunate that the town lost its market to insurgents’ attacks,”
Gaidam said.

Gaidam is among numerous towns that have suffered amid the terror perpetrated by the Boko Haram sect.

It was reported that 4 000 locals had fled to neighbouring Niger to seek sanctuary from the relentless siege.

Gaidam has visited the neighbouring country and addressed the refugees.

The terror perpetrated by the Boko Haram has killed more than 5 000 civilians and displaced more than 1,6 million between July 2009 and June this year.
