Gunmen kill 2 persons, injure another in Kano

28 March 2013, 10:34

Kano - Suspected gunmen on Wednesday shot dead two persons and injured another at Badawa Bus stop in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

An eye-witness told NAN in Kano that the incident happened at about 5:30 p.m.

The witness said that the gunmen came to the area on a tricycle and opened fire near a police check-point.

"We suspected that the suspects had planned to attack the police check-point in the area but instead missed the target,’’ the witness who requested anonymity said.

He said that the gunmen killed two persons, including a shop owner and injured another person.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Musa Daura, who confirmed the incident, said that the suspects stormed the area on a tricycle.

"After parking their vehicle, they opened fire on their targets.

"When our men arrived the area, the suspects had already fled the scene," he said.

Daura said that the injured person had been taken to hospital.

"Security has been beefed up while investigation has also commenced," he said.
