House of Reps condemns latest terror attacks

03 July 2015, 11:38Augustine Osayande

Abuja - Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has expressed concern over renewed attacks by Boko Haram insurgents in the North East.

The Speaker urged the military and other security agencies not to despair in their effort to stamp out Boko Haram from the region.

He commended the military for the successes recorded in the past months against the insurgents but called on the officers and men of the military to redouble their effort.

Dogara expressed hope that with the ongoing reorganisation of the security agencies by President Muhammadu Buhari, the insurgents would be stamped out.

The Speaker said a motion calling on the Federal government to convene an international donor conference for the rebuilding of the region had been drafted and would be considered by the House after the current recess.

The Boko Haram insurgency has claimed thousands of lives and displaced some 2 million people.
