Lagos - As the crisis in the education sector lingers on, former Military President Gen. Ibrahim Babangida has been accused of causing of the rot in the sector, Punch reports.
This statement was made by the chairman of ASUU, Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Ade Akinola on Monday.
He said it was during the administration of Babangida that the International Monetary Fund and Structural Adjustment Programmes, whose policies were used to destroy public schools in the late 1980s surfaced.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, which has been on a strike since July over the failure of the government to implement the 2009 agreement, will meet with President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday to find a way of ending the industrial action.
