Abuja- The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, on Thursday, decorated nine newly promoted commissioners of police with their new ranks.
They are the former Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in the FCT, Umar Shehu; Kudu Nma, Usman Baba, Saidu Madawaki and Usman Yakubu.
Others are Abdulmajid Ali, CP Abubakar Mohammed, Abdul Salami and Kayode Aderanti, who was the Director, Peacekeeping, FHQ, Abuja.
Speaking at the decoration, the IG urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the police management.
Abubakar challenged them to contribute their quota to the reform of the force as well as the drive to reconnect with the public.
He reminded the officers of their enormous responsibility, adding that it must be discharged with utmost diligence and competence.
Speaking on behalf of the nine newly decorated commissioners, Kudu Nma thanked the IG for finding them worthy of the exalted office.
The new commissioners are expected to be deployed soon.
