Lokoja - The National Population Commission (NPC) has revealed that the amount of teenage pregnancies in Nigeria might increase to 60 million by 2015, ChannelsTV reports.
Mohammed Akubo Aikoye, the Federal Commissioner of the NPC, who spoke at the 2013 World Population Day in Lokoja, stressed that the Government needs to take drastic measures to prevent teenage pregnancies. According to Aikoye according to the Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS), the amount of adolescents giving birth in Nigeria has topped other African countries.
Oladapo Ladipo , president of the Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH), commented that adolescent pregnancy is not just health issue but a development issue too.
