Adamawa- The Adamawa Police Command has said that it has arrested a police inspector in Mayo-Belwa, for allegedly killing his wife and that of his landlord.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Mohammed Ibrahim, confirmed the arrest of the officer in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola on Thursday.
Ibrahim, said the incident occurred on Wednesday night in Mayo-Belwa, the Headquarters of Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of the state.
According to the PPRO, the inspector, who was among those guarding the residence of Gov Murtala Nyako in Mayo-Belwa, had a misunderstanding with his wife that night.
"He shot the wife and the wife of his landlord who was trying to intervene," Ibrahim said.
He said the policeman was being investigated for prosecution.
NAN recalls that in 2012, a similar incident occurred in LaLa village of Gombi Local Government of the state.
In that incident, a policeman went berserk, shooting two of his colleagues at a police post before turning the gun on himself.
Also in 2012, in Michika town, another policeman shot dead two of his colleagues before he was also gunned down.
