Abuja - The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, has reiterated the critical need for air border surveillance, maintenance and adequate control of territorial borders.
He said this was especially at this time when there is insurgency in the North-Eastern part of the country.
The Minister made the remark when he received the Management of Dornier Aviation in his office in Abuja.
He said most of the insurgents are foreigners who found their way into the country because of the wide and porous nature of the country’s borders.
The Interior Minister also noted that although vehicular patrol and building of high technology hub plazas is already on, the air patrol will help resuscitate border control.
He announced that a committee had been set up to look at the modalities and readiness to engage in such surveillance operations.
Managing Director of Dornier Aviation, Mark Snoxell Dornier said that Dornier Aviation is willing to provide their services and participate actively in helping to curb the insurgency in the North-East.
