Abuja - The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has offered candidates seeking admission into university an opportunity to partake in it first major e-learning degree programme.
The National University Commission, NUC and Park Associate e-Learning Group is offering the e-learning degree programme to candidates interested in obtaining Bachelors Degree in Economics. JAMB said the programme would later be expanded to include other courses and extended to other federal universities in the coming years depending on the success of the initial programme.
University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom, Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, University of Miaduguri and the National Open University of Nigeria are participating in the programme.
The e-learning programme would officially commence in May 19 after successful candidates have been shortlisted.
It comes as a boost to thousands of candidates seeking admission into local universities but are denied admission every year.
JAMB was therefore hopeful said that the e-learning programme would hopefully tackle the challenge.
