JTF confirms gunmen killing Gen. Shuwa, guest

Maiduguri - The Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO) on Friday confirmed that gunmen killed retired Gen. Muhammed Shuwa, and his guest in Gwange Area of Maiduguri.

The JTF spokesman, Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, who made this known in a statement in Maiduguri, added that the Shuwa was killed around noon while seating with some guests at his residence.

"At about 12 noon today (Nov. 2), four men entered the residence of retired Gen. Muhammadu Shuwa in Gwange 1 Area of Maiduguri.

"They waited outside for some time and pretended to be visitors thought to be waiting for him for the Juma’at prayers," he said.

Musa added that the gunmen later entered the main house and opened fire on Shuwa and other guests in his seating room.

"One of the guests died on the spot while the Shuwa died on the way to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

"The terrorists that carried out the killing of the late general will be brought to book.

"We call on the citizens to forward information that will assist the security agencies to apprehend the terrorists."
