JTF discovers illegal oil refinery in Rivers

Rivers -  The Joint Task Force (JTF) operating in the Niger Delta said on Thursday that it had discovered an illegal oil refinery in Rivers and arrested eight suspected oil thieves.

The team gave the information in a statement signed by Maj. Michael Etete, the spokesman for the 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt. It said some of the items recovered were 55 empty drums, five speedboats and an illegal refinery with five surface and one underground storage tank.

Another item seized by the team was a wooden boat loaded with illegally refined diesel. It said eight suspects were arrested and handed over to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Rivers Command.
