JTF imposes curfew on Mubi, Adamawa

24 September 2012, 08:47

Adamawa - A curfew has been imposed on Mubi in Adamawa as soldiers and policemen of the Joint Task Force (JTF) commenced a house-to-house search for weapons and gunmen.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that all shops and other businesses in the commercial border town had been shut.

Sunday service was also affected as many worshippers stayed at home.

``The curfew started on Saturday afternoon in some parts of the town but this Sunday morning there was public announcement directing everyone to stay at home,’’ said Ahmad Sajoh, a staff of the Adamawa State University in Mub

The curfew has made movement in and out of the town difficult.

Efforts to get officials of the JTF comment on the exercise did not yield positive results.

NAN recalls that Mubi recently witnessed series of gun attacks and explosions, resulting to loss of lives and destruction of property.

The latest attack last week, led to the killing of the Acting Chairman of Maiha Local Government Council, Malam Lawan Datti, who was shot by gunmen at his residence.
