JTF recovers arms in Potiskum

18 October 2012, 09:06

Yobe  - The Joint Task Force security operation in Yobe State says it has recovered some arms in a shoot out between the security outfit and suspected members of Boko Haram in Potiskum, Yobe.

Lt. Eli Lazarus, JTF spokesman, who issued a statement on Wednesday, which was made available to the News Agency Nigeria (NAN), said the JTF was attacked while on search of a suspected hideout in Angwan Jaji in Potiskum.

"In the process of searching the area, Improved Explosive Devices (IED) were thrown at our men."

He said the casualty figure was not immediately available as at the time of issuing the statement.
Potiskum, the commercial nerve of Yobe State, had suffered series of bomb explosions in the past.
The Emir of Fika and chairman Yobe council of chiefs, Muhammadu Ibn Idrissa, escaped unhurt in an attack by a suicide bomber in Potiskum in August.
