Jigawa Assembly passes N115.4bn budget

Dutse - The Jigawa House of Assembly on Tuesday in Dutse passed the N115.4 billion 2013 state appropriation bill into law.


Presenting its report before the passage, the Chairman of the assembly’s Appropriation Committee, Babangida Muhammed, said that his committee had done a thorough job by making necessary adjustments.


Muhammed explained that N600 million budgeted for the Directorate of Salary and Pension had been increased to N660 million while N1, 14 billion for Accountant General’s office was reduced by N60 million.


He said that the budget for  Dutse Water Supply Scheme was also  reduced from N400 million to N360 million while  N40 million was added to the N360 million initial budget for  the installation of solar-based power plant in Limawa.


According to him, adjustments are also made in both recurrent and capital expenditures.


After the deliberation, Nasiru Muhammed, the member representing Gagarawa constituency moved a motion for the adoption of the bill which was   seconded by Malam Adamu Sarki of Miga constituency.


The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the house also passed the sum of N57.7 billion 2013 appropriation bills for the 27 Local Government areas of the state into law.
