Dutse - The Jigawa Government spent N45 million to purchase Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scratched cards for 7 500 students of the state's origin who sat for this year’s JAMB examination.
The state's Commissioner for Education, Prof. Haruna Wakili, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Dutse.
He said that the gesture was to encourage secondary school students in the state to further their education.
He said that the State Government was committed to promoting education as a tool for eradicating poverty.
Wakili commended the organisation of the just-concluded UTME in the state as well as the security agencies for ensuring peace during the examination.
