Jigawa to recruit 1 000 teachers

12 February 2013, 07:31

Dutse - The Jigawa Government plans to recruit about 1 000 teachers, according to Alhaji Sani Abdullahi, the Executive Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Abdullahi made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen on Monday in Dutse.

He explained that the board had engaged consultants to recruit competent and qualified people to teach in the public schools.

The secretary noted that 7 000 applicants holding the National Certificate in Education and diploma sat for the aptitude test.

"This process is designed to ensure that qualified people are employed with a view to achieving quality education set out by the present administration," he said.

He said that the recruitment was necessary because of the continuous increment in enrolment in the public schools.

Abdullahi noted that the administration of Gov. Sule Lamido was committed to reforming the education sector.
