Jigawa to spend N700m on school furniture

Dutse - The Jigawa Government has approved N700 million for the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for the purchase of furniture for primary and junior secondary schools.

The Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim, made the announcement while speaking with newsmen after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting on Wednesday in Dutse.

Ibrahim explained that 43 750 units of furniture would be procured and distributed to primary and junior secondary schools, based on their needs.

He added that another N869.8 million had been set aside for the renovation of 606 primary and junior secondary schools damaged by storm.

The commissioner stated that the contract had been awarded to various contractors.

He reiterated government’s commitment to revamping the education sector in the state.
