Calabar – Jonathan Johnson, the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police in Zone 6 Command in Calabar, Cross River State, has claimed corruption in the police service is the reason behind the large amount of policemen deaths, AllAfrica reports.
According to Jonathan, policemen are aiding criminals and conspiring with suspects. He added that he was disappointed in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the force where corruption was rife and many times the same police officers who were investigating the case were the ones providing the criminals with information.
Johnson provided an example where police tipped off a community about a rescue mission and criminals ambushed police officers which resulted in many deaths.
