07 February 2013, 15:00

London - President Goodluck Jonathan arrived in London on Wednesday night at the start of a visit to the United Kingdom.

The western Europe correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Jonathan who is being accompanied on the visit by his wife, Patience was received on arrival by the Nigerian High Commissioner to Britain, Dr Dalhatu Tafida and officials for the commission.

NAN reports that during the visit, the president will hold bilateral talks with the British Prime Minister, Mr David Cameron.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Reuben Abati said the President would also attend the launching of the Olusegun Obasanjo foundation.

The foundation is the initiative of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Abati said that during his two nations tour, President Jonathan is also expected to visit Paris, where he will hold talks with French President Francois Hollande before returning to Abuja.

The president had earlier on Wednesday attended the summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in the Egyptian capital Cairo.
