Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan remarked that the death of Joy Onaolapo, Nigerian Paralympian gold medalist, was a sad loss for Nigeria, AllAfrica reports.
Dr. Reuben Abati, the presidential spokesman, commented in a statement the president was shocked at the death of the medalist, who won gold in the 52kg power-lifting category on the London 2012 Paralympics.
The president said. “"It was indeed remarkable and very inspiring that she did not allow her physical challenge to stop her from reaching for the best in her sporting life."
The preparations are currently underway for Onaolapo’s burial.
