Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan has set up an advisory committee to drive national dialogue.
The President announced the setting up of the committee during a Presidential nationwide broadcast to mark the 53rd independence anniversary on Tuesday morning.
Femi Okurounmu, the former Senator for Ogun Central, former Commissioner in Ogun State and onetime Secretary General of Afenifere, will chair the committee.
According to the President “I have decided to set up an advisory committee to come up with the frame work for a National Dialogue”.
He said the committee was expected to submit their report within one month. The President said other members of the committee would be announced shortly.
“The President rededicates himself to the service of the nation and assures Nigerians that the government under his leadership will not fail,” he said.
The setting up of the committee comes amid incidents f terror and political tensions.
