Abuja - President Goodluck Jonathan wished prominent bishop, Mathew Hassan Kukah, well on his 61st birthday.

Kukah celebrated his birthday on Saturday.

“I join your (Kukah's) family, friends and well-wishers to thank Almighty God for His continued guidance, protection and provision for you in the past 61 years of a life marked by single-minded dedication to the service of God and the good of our common humanity," the President stated.

“I wish you a very happy birthday and many more years of abounding health and enduring fulfilment”.

Jonathan applauded Kukah’s 'single-minded dedication' to the service of God and the well-being of his countrymen, women and children.

Kukah, who also heads the Sokoto Diocese is one of the most distinguished church leaders of his generation.

His works have been published in various media.

He is formerly the Vicar-General of the Kaduna archdiocese as well as the Parish Priest of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Kakuri, Kaduna.

The clergy was born in Anchuna, Ikulu Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf local government area of the Kaduna State.

He was ordained a Catholic Priest in 1976.
