Kano - Kano State House of Assembly has declared a seven day mourning period in honour of one of its members, Ibrahim Garko, killed on Saturday by gunmen.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Clerk of the House, Lawan Badamasi, issued in Kano on Monday.
According to the statement, the House will not resume from its recess as earlier scheduled for this Monday.
It said the Assembly would now reconvene on Nov. 26.
The statement prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and for his family to have the fortitude to bear the loss.
Late Garko, who represented Garko Constituency in the Assembly, was shot dead by two gunmen on a motorcycle on Saturday evening in Kano.
Two other persons were injured in the attack.
