30 October 2014, 09:02 Okoro Chinedu

Lagos - A man has appeared in the Kano High State for issuing dud cheques running to millions of Naira.

Abdulrazak Halliru has appeared before Justice Dije Abdu Aboki to answer to charges the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prefred against him.

Halliru allegedly used his position as a sales manager of a cement company belonging to Danladi Sani Hanga to sell ten trucks of cement worth N13 million and diverted the money for personal use.

The accused person, in a bid to pay the said sum, allegedly issued a post-dated EcoBank cheque in the sum of N2 million which on presentation at the bank was dishonored for lack of sufficient funds in the account.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

In view of his plea, counsel to EFCC, Salihu Sani, urged the court to fix a date for trial to commence.

Justice Aboki consequently adjourned the case to November 17 for commencement of trial and ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison custody.
