Katsina State- The Katsina State Government has released N14.3 million Federal Government relief funds to 515 victims of the 2012 flood disaster in Kusada Local Government Area of the state.
The disbursement brought the funds so far distributed to N130 million, and the number of beneficiaries to 10 536.
Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf, Chairman of the Relief Funds Distribution Committee, disclosed this on Monday in Kusada while disbursing the money to the victims.
Yusuf, who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Development, said the Federal Government had released N300 million to the state government as relief funds for the 2012 flood victims.
He said that N170 million of the amount would be for the construction of drainage, waterways and other development projects in the 18 local government areas affected by the flood.
He said that N130 million had been distributed to the victims in the affected local government areas, adding that the funds were distributed in accordance with the directives of Gov. Ibrahim Shema.
Yusuf advised the beneficiaries to use the money to cushion the hardship and difficulties experienced by them.
Earlier, Alhaji Mansur Murnai, Caretaker Committee Chairman of the council, expressed appreciation to the state and federal governments for the assistance rendered to the victims.
