Birnin Kebbi - The Kebbi chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) on Tuesday began a one-week warning protest over poor welfare.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the union, Shehu Bagudu, in Birnin Kebbi.
It said the warning strike was sequel to the non implementation of teachers’ promotion and failure to promote teachers.
The statement stated that the action was also due to failure of the government to rectify anomalies in teachers' salary owing to the introduction of E-payment in 2010.
"The annual leave grant to teachers needed to be paid unconditionally".
''The teachers also complained of non restoration of 27.5 per cent and 12.5 per cent inducement allowance to professional and the non professional teachers, respectively.’’
It called on all stakeholders in education sector to support the cause of the teachers aimed at improving the education sector in the state.
The statement, however, advised members of the union to remain law abiding pending the position of the state government on the issues.
