Kogi - State Governor, Idris Wada, has ordered an increase in government workers’ salaries with immediate effect.
He gave the directive in Ogori-Magongo Local Council Area during the “Thank you Visit.”
The governor noted that the federal allocation to the state for the month of July was more than what was received in previous months and, therefore, ordered council chairmen to pay full salaries for the month.
“The federal allocation to the state has been increased and what will come in July (money) will meet all workers’ salaries,” he said.
“It is unthinkable for anyone to think they will deliberately deduct workers salaries,” he added.
Wada is touring the state where he is commissioning some community projects.
Meanwhile, he said government had provided potable water to 320 communities through the provision of motorised boreholes.
This, he said, would address the problem of perennial water shortages.
