Kubwa General Hospital begins eye surgery

15 November 2012, 07:36

Kubwa - Dr Ahmed Danfulani, the Chief Medical Director, Kubwa General Hospital, Abuja, on Wednesday said the hospital performed an average of seven to eight eye surgeries weekly.

The CMD said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kubwa.

"We have been operating not less than seven to eight people every week since the commission of our eye centre.

"We are glad that the eye centre has finally taken off and that most of the expectations for setting the eye centre are being met," Danfulani said.

He said that the hospital had no theatre for eye surgery before the inauguration of the centre.

Danfulani expressed satisfaction with the turnout of patients to the eye centre, saying that the centre now had 700 to 800 attendants as against 300 to 400 in the past.

He said that the gynecological unit, the maternity, a modern admission bay, the accident and emergency unit were now operational in the hospital to meet the needs of teeming patients.

He said that with the creation of the new departments, the hospital needed more members of staff to meet the responsibilities in the hospital.

NAN reports that the hospital’s ultra modern eye unit was inaugurated on August 14.
