Kwara Govt distributes relief materials worth N31m - Aide

Ilorin - The Kwara Government says it has distributed cash and relief materials worth more than N30.8 million to victims of various disasters in the state in the past year.

Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, the Special Assistant to Gov. Abdullahi Ahmed on Emergency and Relief Services, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ilorin.

Abdullahi said that the materials including zinc, mattresses, planks and other building materials, were to victims of fire disaster, flooding and rainstorm, to give them succour.

"The government has in the last one year, distributed items ranging from money, zinc, building materials and other household utensils to victims of various disasters.

"Government is also being proactive to ensure that occurrence of such incidents are prevented through massive campaigns."

He advised residents of the state to adopt precautionary measures that would guide against such disasters.

The governor’s aide denied allegations that some of the victims were shortchanged by officials saddled with the task of distributing the relief materials, adding that his office kept records of the beneficiaries with their addresses.
