LG provides free rice, meat to workers

Yola - The Mubi North Local Government of Adamawa, has provided 30 bags of rice and 10 cows to its workers to enable them celebrate Christmas with their families.        

The Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Sahabo Jauro, made the disclosure in Mubi in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.        

Jauro said the gesture was part of the council's welfare package to workers, wishing them merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.        

He said that with the 10 cows and 30 bags of rice, every worker, Christian or Muslim, would get some meat and some measures of rice to celebrate the yuletide.        

He said that similar gesture was extended to inmates of the Mubi Prison.        

He called for continuous prayers for lasting peace and prosperity in the area and the country in general.        

Similarly, the Mubi South Local Government Council, has provided four cows to its workers to enable them celebrate  Christmas.        

The Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Ahmed Gude, made the announcement while addressing workers at the council's secretariat.        

Gude, who wished the workers happy Christmas and New Year, urged them to be hard working in the new year.        

He assured the workers his administration's commitment to the welfare of workers.        

Alhaji Musa Iya, Chairman of the Mubi South Local Government Area Branch of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, commended the chairman for the gesture.        

Iya promised that the workers would continue to support the chairman in his effort to develop the area.
