Sokoto - Sabon-Birni Local Government in Sokoto State said on Thursday that it spent N10 million on the purchase of medication and medical facilities for health institutions in the area.
The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Idris Gobir, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that the administration was committed to the provision of effective health services for the people.
He said the items had since been distributed to health centres.
Gobir called on the people to reciprocate the gesture by reporting the outbreak of diseases to the nearest health institution in the 11 wards of the area.
He said effective and qualitative healthcare delivery remained the council's main priority and called on the people to support the campaign against the six infant killer diseases, including measles.
Gobir said the council would continue to implement policies and programmes that would uplift the living standard of the people.
