Lagos - A 38-year-old labourer, Moshood Sholesi, on Thursday appeared before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over the alleged theft of an android Renz phone valued at N46,000.
Sholesi, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of stealing.
The accused, however, pleaded guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Inspector George Nwosu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 13 at about 6.30 p.m. within the Department of Engineering at the University of Lagos in Akoka, Yaba, Lagos State.
He said that the complainant, one Mr David Wonda, a student of the University of Lagos, put his cell phone on the window, while having his bath.

"The accused sneaked in and took the phone. However, the complainant saw the accused and screamed for help.
"The accused was apprehended by some passers-by who handed him over to the Police," the prosecutor said.
The offence, he noted, contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Section 285 (1) prescribes a three-year-jail term for an offender, if no other punishment is provided.
The Magistrate, Bola Folarin-Williams, adjourned the case to April 17, for facts and sentencing.
