Lagos - The Lagos State Government has directed that all commercial drivers and conductors in the state are to wear uniforms as from January 2014.
The state commissioner for transportation, Kayode Opeifa, made the announcement at a news conference in the state on Monday, Premium Times Nigeria reports.
He said this decision is to ensure that all commercial drivers are properly identified and registered to reduce the incidents of unsuspecting passengers being victims of bus robberies and kidnapping.
The state government had earlier in the week also reduced the number of working hours of the commercial buses to eight hours and owners of commercial buses are expected to get insurance cover for their passengers as prescribed by the state traffic law.
