Lagos - The Director General of Lagos State Safety Commission, Dominga Omolara Odebunmi, has commended initiatives to enhance the safety of minors in the region.
She commended TIMKID AFRICA for organizing a Safety Awareness/Sensitization programme for students in the state public secondary schools describing the initiative as laudable.
In her remarks at the event, which focused on Safety Tips for the prevetion of Kidnapping, Violence, Rape, Abuse and Murder, the Director General said the Commission had always been concerned with the safety of children and as such, would support any programme aimed at school safety.
Commending TIMKID AFRICA for the initiative and imploring them to keep up the good work, she observed that nongovernmental organisations were beginning to take safety issues as a joint task which required joint efforts.
Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Director, Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement of the agency, Aderonke Odeleye, said the importance of the programme could not be overemphasized since the issues of safety in schools were relevant in view of the insecurity in the country.
Chief Executive Officer TIMKID AFRICA, Timothy Babalola, stated that his organization planned the event because it wanted to contribute its own quota to the safety of the children.
He noted that TIMKID has passion for safety especially for school children.
He expressed his appreciation to Lagos State Safety Commission for encouraging and supporting his NGO in organizing the programme.
