Abuja - The Lagos State Emergency Management
Agency (LASEMA) has called on volunteers willing to assist disaster management
to officially register with the agency.
The agency, said the development is in appreciating the critical role and
contributions played by volunteers
during emergencies and disasters in the state.
LASEMA General Manager, Michael Akindele, said people
with passion for saving lives and properties should send applications to email@example.com for proper
screening and training as well as ascertain their qualification and readiness
for the job.

He stated that shortlisted volunteers will under-go
training such as First Aid Treatment, Basic Life Support (BLS), Fire Drills to
equip them with necessary training in
saving lives and property.
“Emergency and disaster management requires adequate,
proper training and professionalism, this is important because minor injuries
if not properly attended to by competent hands could lead to complications, or
rescuer without proper training could turn into victim,” Akindele said.
He noted that since the impact of any emergency was to
the grassroot, it was important to always kick-start emergency response from
The trained volunteers would be added to the already inaugurated Local
Emergency Management Committees in 57 Local Government and the Local Council
Development Areas as well as the 750 trained Local Emergency Responders trained
by the agency
