Late churchman Nwator’s burial date set

Lagos - The Rivers State is mourning the death of Arch Bishop Friday Osaro Nwator.

He died recently following a brief illness at the age of 74.

Chief Mourner, Dominic Nwator, said the burial was fixed for May 23 in Ogale, Eleme.

Nwator, a devout Christian, philanthropist and a United Kingdom-trained medical doctor, was an Adviser on Health Matters to former President Shehu Shagari, National President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and founder of the Health Services Department, Rivers State University of Science and Technology in Port Harcourt.

The late Nwator held the National Honour of Order of the Niger (OON) and was a member of the Constituent Assembly in the Second Republic and Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Rivers State.

He is survived by a wife and four children.

Among them is Dominic Nwator, Commissioner of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The deceased is also survived by six grandchildren and host of relations.
