Abuja - The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar has ordered the promotion of more than 24 000 police officers in the biggest such exercise in the force’s history.
This is part of the ongoing measures geared towards boosting the morale of officers and rewarding those who have excelled in their assigned roles.
The exercise would reward particularly officers that stood out in the fight crimes and criminalities in society.
Frank Mba,Force Public Relations Officer, said the promotion of the 24 118 officers cuts across different ranks.
Mba said the IGP congratulated the newly-promoted officers and charged them to see their elevation as a mark of additional responsibility and a call to rededicate themselves to their professional callings.
“He equally enjoined them to uphold ethical standards and the fundamental human rights of Nigerians in the discharge of their duties at all times,” Mba stated.
