Lokoja - A federal lawmaker, Rep. Tajudeen
Yusuf, on Monday condemned the incessant robbery attacks on commercial
banks and other business premises in rural areas.
Yusuf said in a statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja that
the robbery attacks were threatening the nation's quest for economic
growth and development.
The lawmaker, who is representing Kabba/Bunu Federal Constituency of
Kogi, said that robberies might lead to poverty and food insecurity as
victims were mostly farmers and petty traders.
Yusuf condemned the recent attack on a branch of a commercial bank at
Iyamoye, Ijumu Local Government, saying that the incident had created a
feeling of insecurity in the area.
He urged the State Police Command to reinforce security around banks
and other business premises in the constituency to forestall further
loss of lives and property.
Yusuf said that efforts were being made by him and some traditional rulers to recruit local hunters to form vigilance groups.
The lawmaker urged the residents in Iyamoye to put the incident behind them and return to farms and reopen their shops.
