Lawmaker spends N25m on scholarship, skills acquisition

27 December 2012, 12:34 -

Zaria - Rep. Abbas Tajudeen said over N25 million was disbursed on scholarship, skills acquisition and poverty alleviation in 2012 for people in his constituency.

Tajudeen disclosed this on Wednesday in Zaria during the distribution of motorcycles, grinding and sewing machines to 23 members of his party.

The lawmaker said that the amount was to assist members of his constituency to acquire education, skills acquisition training and poverty alleviation schemes.

He lauded members of the constituency for their support and cooperation and called on them to sustain the tempo to gain more democratic dividends.

Tajudeen said that the gesture was to give CPC loyalists a sense of belonging in view of the active role they played which culminated into his success at the poll.

The lawmaker appealed to recent beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items to improve their livelihood.

A cross section of the beneficiaries interviewed described the gesture as a motivating factor that would ginger them toward active participation in future political activities.
