Local Government spends N165m on capital projects

Sokoto - Sabon-Birni Local Government Council of Sokoto State has spent about N165 million on the provision of basic infrastructure in the last one year, the Chairman, Alhaji Idris Gobir, has said.

Gobir told News Agency of Nigeria( NAN) in Sokoto on Sunday that the projects comprised water supply, roads construction, healthcare delivery, culverts, classrooms'  construction and modern farming inputs for farmers, among others.

He said that about N100 million was spent on the construction of 10 primary health centres each with the capacity to admit 10 patients in each of the 10 wards of the area.

According to him, the projects are meant to provide healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

He said that the health centres had been inaugurated and equipped with the necessary medical facilities.

"We have also constructed and inaugurated 10 motorised  boreholes to boost water supply to  our people."

He called on the people to continue to support the  administration by living in peace with one another.

"We will continue to put in place policies and programmes that would further  better the lots of the people for peace, progress and political development of our area," he added.
