The National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) has shut down three organisations for violating the principles guiding the lottery business.
The Director-General of the Commission, Mr Peter Igho, disclosed this.
Igho said that the commission had shut down Nestle Food Nigeria Plc office in Jos, Plateau and Sojette Nigeria limited in Benin City and another one in Kwara.
He said that Sojette Limited had been regularised and had complied with the commission`s principles and guidelines while the case of the other two were still pending.
``We have about three different enforcement teams that will seal any such organisation that violates our guidelines,’’ he said.
Igho said that some organisations claimed ignorance about what the lottery represented, adding that the commission had enlightened such organisations.
The director-general said that the commission was making every effort to promote transparency and accountability in the lottery business.
``The commission will continue arresting and prosecuting illegal lottery operators to promote transparency and accountability.
``We are interested in protecting the interest of players, stakeholders and the public in this industry,’’ Igho said.
