Abeokuta - Two students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, were on Wednesday suspended indefinitely for their alleged involvement in cult activities and disruption of public peace.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Sulaman Adebiyi, in Abeokuta.
He named the students as Akinwale Sorunke of the Estate Management Department and Salau Sikiru of the Business Administration Department.
The spokesman explained that the students were arrested by the police at Ifo in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun during initiation of new members into a cult group.
Adebiyi said that the students with two others were now being interrogated at the Eleweran Headquarters of the Ogun Command of the Nigeria Police.
The spokesman said that the students had confessed to the crime, saying that they were forced into joining the group.
He said the students would only be re-absorbed into the polytechnic after due clearance by the police.
Management advised the suspended students to steer clear of the polytechnic campus in their own interest.
