Abuja - According to Leadership, federal ministries, departments and agencies would spend N4.9 billion on maintaining and fuelling generators in 2012.
This significant increase in public spending owes to the perennial deficit in electricity supply bedeviling the country.
A breakdown indicates that N372.59 billion is for statutory
transfers, N559.58 billion for debt service, N2.425 trillion is for
recurrent (non-debt) expenditure while the balance of N1.51 billion is
for contribution to the development fund for capital expenditure for the
year ending on December 31, 2012.
Leadership has the details.
