Abuja – The MTN Foundation, in partnership with Cross River Ministry of Social Welfare and Community Development, is verifying the details of disabled members of the community to help mobilize support for them.

Through the exercise, the MTN Foundation is meeting the disabled persons to help ascertain the number of mobility aids it should distribute to them.

This is part of the MTN Disability Support Project.

A director of the exercise, which is in its fourth series and would be extended to other state, hinted 5 000 disabled members of the community in Cross River will benefit from the aid.

Among the mobility aids to the disabled include tricycles, armpit crunches, Braille machines, talking phones, elbow crutches, walking sticks and wheel chairs.

The official said these will empower the disabled carry out their day-to-day activities

Speaking about the exercise, the Director of Rehabilitation Department at the Ministry of Social Welfare and Community Development, Elizabeth Uquak, said the Ministry was working together with the MTN Foundation to ensure that people with disabilities were taken care of, as other people in the society.

Uquak commended the foundation for its gesture towards these disadvantaged members of society.
