Abuja - Following the shooting incident that happened on Wednesday in Maiduguri, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) ,7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj-Gen Ahmed Mohammed has been removed.
The removed GOC has equally been summoned to the Defence Headquarters in Abuja to explain what happened, reports New Telegraph.
Mohammed’s deputy, a colonel, has been mandated to take over from him.
Mohammed narrowly escaped death on Wednesday when angry soldiers opened fire on his official vehicle when he came to address them at the Maimalari Barracks in Maiduguri.
The soldiers were reacting in anger over the ambush attack they suffered in the hands of Boko Haram terrorists on their way back from an operation in Kalabalge during which about 12 of them got killed.
