Lagos - An Ojo Magistrates' Court in Lagos on
Thursday sentenced a 22-year-old unemployed man, Sunday Innocent, to
four months imprisonment for stealing a laptop valued at N80,000.
The Magistrate, Taslimi Shomade, sentenced Innocent after he had
pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
He was, however, given an option of N20, 000 fine.
Shomade said: "I hereby sentence you to four months imprisonment with an option of N20,000 fine."
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, had told the court that the
convict committed the offences on Sept. 14 at Iyana-Isashi on
"Innocent was found with a laptop valued at N80,000 and he could not show proof of ownership.
"Eventually, he confessed that he stole the laptop and was subsequently arraigned," Eze said.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 326 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
