Abuja -The police on Thursday arraigned a
30-year-old man, Gabriel Enyinnaya of Dape village, Abuja, in an Abuja
Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding Daniel Uche of Life Camp,
Abuja, of N650 000.
The accused was arraigned on a three-count charge of criminal breach of trust, cheating and intimidation.
The alleged offences contravene the Penal Code.
The police prosecutor, Insp. Audu Bitrus, told the court that the
nominal complainant, Uche, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police
He alleged that Enyinnaya collected the money from Uche on June 27 to
facilitate a travel visa for him but failed to fulfil the promise.
Bitrus said the accused also failed to refund the complainant’s money after repeated demands.
The accused pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him.
Senior Magistrate Zubairu Mohammed admitted him to bail for N500,000
with one "reasonable and reliable'' surety who must be resident within
the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the case to Oct. 7 for hearing.
