Man arrested for raping school girl

12 September 2013, 16:15

Bayelsa - Police in Bayesla have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly raping a minor.

It is believed the man gagged the 11-year-old girl’s mouth before the violation occurred at an incomplete building in Etegwe community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area.

The alleged rapist, who is a neighbor of the victim, is married with five children.

He allegedly lured the primary school pupil, to the building he allegedly raped her and left her bleeding. Is believed the man lured the girl under the pretext of sending her on an errand.

A sister of the victim said the violated youngster crawled into the house languishing in pain.

She later identified her violator, leading to the arrest.

“She struggled into the house while I was watching television and she told me what happened.

"I immediately arranged a vehicle and rushed her to a private hospital for first aid treatment. The bleeding was stopped and a certified report obtained,” the sister said.

Alex Akhigbe, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest but said he did not have the full details.
